NYPD shoots armed man who pointed gun at officers in the Bronx

Two NYPD officers shot a 49-year-old man on Monday afternoon after he pointed a firearm at them outside a deli in the Bronx, newjersey.news12.com reports.
The incident began around 3:20 p.m. at Sammy Gourmet Deli on Bainbridge Avenue and East 194th Street, where the suspect — identified as Victor Soto — was arguing with several customers inside the establishment. According to detectives, Soto had been harassing people inside the deli prior to the confrontation.
Surveillance cameras captured the sequence of events both inside and outside the deli. Soto allegedly drew a gun and pointed it at the people inside, prompting them to take cover. He then left the deli and moved northbound along Bainbridge Avenue, violently slamming the firearm into a glass window of the deli as he went.
Two officers arrived on scene and ordered Soto to drop the weapon. He did not comply and pointed the gun at the officers, at which point an exchange of gunfire occurred. Soto continued moving northbound — firing in front of civilians — before the officers struck him.
Soto was transported to hospital and listed in stable condition. No officers were struck during the incident. The responding officers were taken to hospital for evaluation as a precaution.
Detectives noted that Soto had eight prior arrests, several of them involving criminal possession of a firearm. Body camera footage from the responding officers also captured the incident, alongside the deli's surveillance recordings. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Police warned residents to expect road closures and traffic delays in the area around 2657 Bainbridge Avenue following the shooting.
