Second suspect charged in Elizabeth City teen double homicide

Second arrest made in Elizabeth City double murder of two teens
A second suspect has been charged in connection with the deaths of two teenagers in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, wcti12.com reports.
A Pasquotank County grand jury returned a True Bill of Indictment on July 20, charging 24-year-old Versaun Diamoni Williams of Elizabeth City with two counts of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. He was arrested two days later, processed before a magistrate and transferred to the Albemarle District Jail, where he is being held without bond. No court date has been set.
The charges relate to a shooting on January 22, 2026, in the 500 block of Edge Street. Officers from the Elizabeth City Police Department, the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office and Elizabeth City State University Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 8:38 p.m. At the scene, they found 19-year-old Jamarey Johnson and 17-year-old Damarion Armstrong dead.
An earlier arrest in the case saw 18-year-old Nijal Maurice Nelson of Elizabeth City indicted by the same grand jury on February 16. Nelson faces two counts of murder and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
