Harnett County man held without bond after fentanyl bust at Spring Lake mobile home

North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) agents have arrested a Spring Lake man carrying more than 30 grams of fentanyl — a quantity sufficient to kill 15,400 people, wral.com reports.

Christopher William Johnston, 34, faces 10 counts of fentanyl trafficking, among other charges. Agents searched a mobile home on Peggy Street on Thursday, seizing cocaine, opioids, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana and over $12,000 in cash.

Johnston is accused of trafficking the narcotics at ABC-licensed businesses across Harnett County. During his arrest, he allegedly attempted to run over several officers while fleeing, leaving one ALE agent with minor injuries. He is currently held without bond at the Harnett County Detention Center.

His brother, Nicholas Jacob Johnston, 36, also of Spring Lake, has been charged with fentanyl trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. Nicholas Johnston had not been arrested at the time of reporting.
