Two arrested over murder of Christina Downer, sister of SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie
Two suspects have been charged with murder in connection with the death of Christina Downer, the sister of Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie, usmagazine.com reports.
The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division announced the arrests of Delorean Bijon Brandon and Kaylee Nicole Markowski in a media release on Friday, 30 October.
According to the LAPD, Downer was reported missing on 18 December 2025 after her ex-husband requested a welfare check, having not heard from her for an extended period. Her boyfriend, Delorean Brandon, claimed at the time that she had moved out several months earlier, leaving behind all her belongings — including her vehicle and dog.
The investigation escalated after Downer's cellphone was discovered washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach. "Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Delorean Brandon and Kaylee Markowski as the individuals responsible for Downer's murder, the disposal of her body, and the concealment of their involvement," the LAPD stated.
Both Brandon and Markowski have each been charged with murder and remanded on $2 million bail. The Robbery-Homicide Division is set to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration. The investigation remains ongoing. Legal representation for the two suspects was not immediately available.
The arrests come roughly six months after Fowlie publicly confirmed his sister was dead. On 29 April, he wrote via Instagram: "The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation. Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable."
Fowlie had first appealed for public help in December 2025, shortly after his sister went missing. "My sister has been missing and we are worried that she isn't safe," he wrote on Instagram, asking followers to share the post and contact police with any information. He noted that Downer may also be known by her maiden name, Christina Fowlie, and that she was last seen in Los Angeles.
In the same post, Fowlie raised concerns that Downer's phone and social media accounts had been compromised in the weeks before her disappearance. "The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money and to create a false narrative that she was going 'off the grid,'" he wrote. He added that he believed those responsible were attempting to erase all trace of her, and described her as "a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me."
