Grenadian driver charged after endangering public on SVG road

A Grenadian omnibus driver was arrested, charged, and fined after allegedly driving dangerously along a public road in St Vincent and the Grenadines, stvincenttimes.com reports.

Quormie N. Skeete, of Grand Anse, Grenada, appeared before the Mesopotamia Magistrate Court on October 23, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving. The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) had arrested Skeete following an incident the same day, in which he allegedly operated motor vehicle HAA-778 along the Richmond Hill Public Road in a manner that endangered public safety.

The magistrate fined Skeete $1,200.00 ECC. Of that amount, $500.00 ECC was to be paid immediately, with the remaining $700.00 ECC due by October 28, 2026. Failure to pay would result in a three-month custodial sentence at His Majesty's Prison.

The RSVGPF noted that the incident occurred during the country's Independence celebrations, a period when the islands receive an increased number of visitors. The force's Traffic Department used the occasion to remind all motorists — citizens, residents, and visitors alike — to obey traffic signs, avoid dangerous overtaking, and drive with patience and courtesy.
