Evan Haynes Jr., 39, of Piqua, Ohio, was found dead on Hull Bay Road on St. Thomas in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to stthomassource.com. A gunman also pursued and fired at a group of people in the same area, wounding at least one other person.

A caller contacted 911 at approximately 4:42 a.m. to report hearing multiple gunshots in the area, the Virgin Islands Police Department said. A second caller reported that she and her friends were driving along Hull Bay Road when a person in another vehicle chased and shot at them. One of her friends had sustained a gunshot wound and required immediate medical assistance, she told dispatchers.

Police officers and Emergency Medical Technicians arrived to find Haynes dead at the scene. The condition of the second victim was not immediately clear.
