Armed robbery on South Street leaves Hodges Bay man without wallet and phone

A Hodges Bay resident was robbed at gunpoint on South Street at approximately 11 p.m. on 27 October, the Antigua Observer reports. Two male suspects targeted the victim as he walked from a casino toward the West Bus Station.

The incident began when a man dressed in dark clothing approached the victim and asked whether he needed a taxi. He then led the victim onto a by-road off South Street, where a second suspect was waiting.

The second man allegedly pointed what appeared to be a black firearm at the victim and demanded his valuables. The victim handed over his wallet — which contained his Social Security card — along with a mobile phone and an unspecified amount of cash.

The second suspect was described as slim, around five feet 11 inches tall, and wearing a red shirt, long blue jeans and a face mask. Both men subsequently fled in an easterly direction.

Police conducted a search of the surrounding area for suspicious persons following the incident, but no arrests were made.
