Four young people—two of them minors—were detained on Friday as part of the investigation into the murder of Lucas Ezequiel Olivera, a 39-year-old driver, which occurred on 2 June in Rafael Castillo, La Matanza district. This was reported by cadena3.com, citing Argentine News Agency.
The arrested individuals are Maximiliano Gonzalo E., 18 years old; Josué Santino C., 18; and two minors aged 17 and 16. One of the minors was identified as the perpetrator of the fatal shot, judicial sources confirmed to Argentine News Agency.
Coordinated raids in La Matanza
The operations were carried out by personnel from the Security Superintendency Region AMBA Oeste, together with officers from the La Matanza Departmental Security Station and the La Matanza Police Station (Rafael Castillo). The procedure included a series of raids that resulted in the arrest of the four individuals involved.
The identity of the participants and the role of each was established on the basis of analysis of security cameras, witness statements and examination of the remaining evidentiary material, according to confirmation to Argentine News Agency.
Seized items
During the raids, multiple objects linked to the crime were seized: various items of clothing worn by those involved at the time of the crime, consistent with the video material provided to the case; a replica firearm resembling a 9 mm calibre pistol; three 9 mm calibre cartridges; one spent 9 mm calibre shell casing; four vehicle ignition keys of different makes; a uniform trouser of the Buenos Aires Prison Service (SPB); and two mobile phones.
The crime of 2 June
The murder occurred when an officer of the Buenos Aires Prison Service requested a ride through a transport application. At the moment the passenger was about to board Olivera's vehicle, four armed criminals intercepted the driver and the officer. A shootout ensued, and when Olivera attempted to resist, one of the attackers shot him, causing a bullet wound at the level of the scapula.
The SPB officer immediately transported the victim to Néstor Kirchner Hospital, where medical personnel were unable to save his life. Olivera died despite resuscitation measures performed.
The judicial case
The proceedings are being handled under the auspices of the Thematic Homicide Prosecution Unit and Guarantee Court No. 5 Departmental. Prosecutor Adrián Arribas endorsed the actions taken and ordered the transfer of the detainees to the disposition of the courts.
