A routine traffic stop in the city of Bariloche led to the recovery of a high-end vehicle that had been stolen months earlier in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The operation was carried out by agents from the Ministry of Security and Justice of the province of Río Negro.
The procedure took place in the 2 de Abril neighbourhood, where officers conducting crime prevention duties observed a vehicle whose characteristics raised alerts. Upon requesting documentation and verifying the details, the uniformed officers detected that the number plate did not correspond to the Toyota Hilux SW4 being transported. Inspection of the chassis confirmed a second discrepancy with respect to the documents presented.
Consultation of computer records showed that the vehicle had an active seizure order in place since August of the previous year. The duty prosecutor was notified immediately and ordered the detention of the driver—pending clarification of his background—along with the confiscation of the vehicle.
At the same time, a preliminary investigation file was opened for accessory to a crime. The provincial Ministry stressed that routine patrols can generate effective results against crime, and praised the swift actions of the officers, who managed to secure a high-value asset and strengthen security in the area.
