A criminal court in Córdoba imposed sentences on five people who were part of a criminal network dedicated to luring men through false dates and then robbing them, according to the eldoce.tv portal.
The murder of Gabriel Enrique Di Noto, a merchant from Villa Carlos Paz, occurred on 13 September 2024. The judicial resolution was reached through an abbreviated trial, after the accused recognised the facts and their lawyers agreed on sentences with prosecutors.
According to the case, the businessman had arranged to meet someone at a cabin complex that he himself managed in the Villa del Lago neighbourhood. Two women, identified as Samirah Rodríguez Soto and Lucía Ayelén Olmos, arrived at the location as part of the plan to capture him.
Braian Ezequiel Armesto later appeared on the scene, who allegedly beat Di Noto until he was unconscious. The group stole money from his accounts, tied him up and fled. Hours later, the merchant's father found the body.
The investigation also covered an earlier attack with the same pattern in the provincial capital, where another victim received a beating but managed to save his life. For this reason, the accused were tried for homicide qualified by theft in the Di Noto case, and for attempted homicide as a means to commit crime in the previous episode.
The start of the trial had been delayed because Rodríguez Soto went into labour and gave birth shortly before the date set for the hearings. Once that setback was resolved, the defence teams and prosecution closed the agreement.
Agustín Viglione, legal representative of the victim's family, stated he was satisfied with the outcome. "In these types of agreements, we complainants are limited in asking for another sentence. In any case, they asked for our opinion on the sentences and we approved them," he said once the verdict was known.
The case shocked the Carlos Paz community because of the violence used and the deception mechanism employed, associated with the phenomenon known as "black widows".
