17-year-old arrested for murder of police officer Alan Molina in Fuerte Apache

Major operation in Ciudadela: suspect in police officer Molina's death captured
A 17-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, 29 July in the Ciudadela settlement as the prime suspect in the murder of Buenos Aires police officer Alan Molina, which occurred on 18 July at Nudo 1 in Fuerte Apache—whose official name is barrio Ejército de los Andes—according to perfil.com.
Police sources who spoke with the Argentine News Agency (NA) identified the detainee as Joel Sebastián Magallanes, known by the alias "Mayonesa". The young man was allegedly the right-hand man of Guillermo Agustín Geréz, alias "El Gordo Tilín", identified as the leader of the drug trafficking organisation operating in the area.
The Buenos Aires Police conducted 24 raids to locate the suspect. The major operation also involved members of the Special Operations Forces UTOI, GPM, GAD and HALCÓN.
As a result of the operation, 1 man, 2 women and Magallanes were detained, in addition to 8 men and 8 women arrested. Among the items seized were 15 mobile phones, cocaine, marijuana, 8 precision scales, cutting implements and 1,235,000 pesos in cash.
Officers also seized three firearms: a Browning pistol, 9 millimetre calibre with no visible serial number, with ammunition and magazine; a Bersa Thunder 9 revolver with the inscription "Policía Provincia de Buenos Aires"—which had an active seizure request from the UFI 10 of San Martín since 16 March—with ammunition and magazine; and a Bersa Thunder pistol with no serial number, with ammunition and magazine.
During the operation, 430 people were identified, 470 vehicles were searched, and 15 motorcycles and 4 automobiles were seized for lacking proper documentation.
Following his arrest, Magallanes was placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Criminal Court Prosecutor's Office of the San Martín Judicial Department, charged with the offence of homicide.
Alan Molina was 26 years old and father of a two-month-old baby when he was killed. On 18 July he was on duty in Fuerte Apache when, alongside colleagues, he attempted to identify two men who fled into Nudo 1. Molina managed to advance ahead of the group and entered the area alone, where he received at least two gunshots: one in the right armpit and another at the waist, with no exit wound.
Urgently transported to Carrillo Hospital in Ciudadela, medical staff confirmed the officer's death shortly after his arrival.
