The security force in Concordia, province of Entre Ríos, broke up two narcotics distribution operations in the midst of celebrations following the Argentine national team's victory. The operations resulted in the apprehension of two people and the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs.
The first operation was initiated following a post on social media showing a firearm. Upon arriving at the indicated address, officers surprised two young men in the process of preparing cocaine packets. One of them, upon noticing the police presence, threw the substance out a window and attempted to flee, but was intercepted immediately.
At that location, 97.4 grammes of cocaine were seized, several doses of marijuana, mobile phones, a precision scale, strips of plastic, a knife with traces of drugs, and cash. At the disposal of prosecutor José Arias, a 17-year-old minor was identified, whilst his accomplice was remanded in custody on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, aggravated by the involvement of a minor.
The second raid uncovered 85 ready-to-distribute doses of cocaine, cash and mobile phones. A 27-year-old man was detained there, who was already serving house arrest under a federal charge linked to drug trafficking and still had eleven months of his sentence to complete.
The seized items and those detained were placed at the disposal of the judiciary. The investigation remains open to establish whether there are other participants in the illegal network.
