Femicide and triple homicide in Merlo: five Venezuelan nationals found dead in Mariano Acosta
A couple and their three minor children, all of Venezuelan origin, were found dead in their home in Mariano Acosta, municipality of Merlo.

Five dead in a home in Mariano Acosta: the man took his own life after the massacre
Five people were found dead inside a home in the Mariano Acosta neighbourhood, municipality of Merlo, west of the Buenos Aires conurbation, according to prensaobrera.com. The victims were a couple and their three minor children, all of Venezuelan nationality.
Judicial sources confirmed that the bodies were discovered on Thursday. The man identified as the perpetrator of the massacre took his own life after committing the crimes. The family had been living at that address for approximately one month, although they had been residing in Argentina for nearly ten years, during which time they had moved on several occasions before settling in that area.
Neighbours of the area described the perpetrator as someone who "seemed like a good person". However, versions have circulated indicating that the woman had wanted to separate from him. Additionally, it emerged that the man had posted images on his social media manipulating weapons. To date, the authorities have not determined the motive for the crime and there are no previous reports filed by the victim.
The incident fits within an alarming trend: so far in 2026, one woman is murdered every 30 hours in the country. Of those cases, 24 have been classified as linked femicides, that is, perpetrated by people with a prior relationship to the victim. In this case there is an additional aggravating factor: the person responsible is also believed to have killed his own minor children.
The media outlet notes that domestic violence continues to be one of the forms of violence with the highest number of victims. The absence of previous reports in this case renews the debate over early detection mechanisms and the resources available for the protection of women and children at risk.
