A 35-year-old man presented himself voluntarily at the First Police Station in Charata in the early hours of Saturday and confessed to having committed a murder that occurred months earlier in the province of Buenos Aires, according to tn24.com.ar.
According to the Chaco Police, Daniel Ignacio González declared himself to be the author of the murder of Karina Elizabeth Cáceres Domínguez, perpetrated on 11 April 2026 in the Buenos Aires municipality of José C. Paz.
According to his own statement, after committing the crime, González travelled to Charata to leave his minor son in the care of his mother, a resident of that city, before turning himself in to the authorities.
Personnel from the Internal Investigations Division of Charata confirmed the information by communicating with the Second Police Station of José C. Paz, where they corroborated the existence of an active investigation into the murder of Cáceres Domínguez.
The case is being handled by prosecutor Rodrigo Juárez, of Functional Unit of Instruction No. 25 Decentralised of Malvinas Argentinas, belonging to the Judicial Department of San Martín. In Charata, the on-duty prosecutor Fernando Ojeda ordered the arrest of the defendant in the context of a case for alleged murder.
González was subjected to a medical examination and remains housed in a police facility in Chaco under custody, awaiting the procedures for his transfer to the province of Buenos Aires, where he will be placed at the disposal of the Justice system.
The body of Karina Elizabeth Cáceres Domínguez had been found in a septic tank at a dwelling in José C. Paz, after her disappearance was reported by her partner. The investigation established that the woman had last been seen in the early hours of 12 July and that she had left her seven-year-old son and her personal belongings at the dwelling.
The Prosecution had activated a search protocol and carried out various sweeps until the body was located.
