A man born in the Dominican Republic was taken into custody in Argentine territory after being charged with causing the death of his girlfriend through stab wounds. The incident occurred at a residence located in the Nuestra Señora de Lourdes neighbourhood, within the Mendoza locality of Las Heras.
The deceased woman's name was Paula Espinoza, she was 26 years old, worked as a teacher and leaves behind a young son aged six. The individual identified as responsible for the attack is Samuel Andrés Capellán, 31 years old.
After committing the act, Capellán sought to escape by crossing the border into neighbouring Chile, but instead chose to present himself to the personnel of the 53rd Police Station in Potrerillos. The local magistrate ordered the application of the special protocol for cases of femicide. The case file remains open as investigations advance.
