The mother of the young man shot by motorbike robbers posing as delivery workers in José C. Paz publicly declared that she forgives those responsible for her son's death. She described her son as a kind, caring young man with ambition to progress. "Everything he did was good. You talk to his friends, to the neighbours, to anyone, they'll always speak well of him. The crime occurred on Monday night on Calle Polonia, between Piñero and Matheu, in the Frino neighbourhood. Two criminals who were riding on a motorbike and wearing delivery worker clothing intercepted Elías with the intention of stealing his vehicle, which he used both for work and to get around.
A security camera recorded the moment when the young man tried to flee after being accosted. The robbers shot him in the back; Elías fell a few metres away. The attackers took the motorbike and fled the scene.
Several neighbours who witnessed the attack called 911, according to sources in the case. Elías was rushed to Mercante Hospital, where he died shortly afterwards from gunshot wounds.
For Wednesday at 19:00, relatives, friends and neighbours called a demonstration on Route 197 to demand justice and raise awareness about the repeated insecurity in the neighbourhood.
The investigation was assigned to Functional Instructional Unit No. 18 of the Judicial Department of San Martín, which classified the case as homicidio criminis causa.
