A 49-year-old motorist from La Plata was detained after assaulting a Highway Police officer during a vehicle inspection procedure carried out on National Route 9, at kilometre 739, in Córdoba province.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when uniformed officers stopped a Ford Raptor pick-up truck to carry out a routine inspection. The driver was travelling with a male companion, aged 53.

Upon receiving a fine for exceeding the speed limit, the woman reacted violently. According to a report published by todoloquepasa, the suspect damaged the fine document and abruptly raised the car window, trapping the officer's right hand between the glass and the frame. Immediately afterwards, she started the car and dragged the officer along the road for a considerable distance.

The suspect managed to flee the scene, though minutes later she was caught by a search operation mounted by the police force. The vehicle was located at the entrance to the La Patat hamlet, within the municipality of Colonia Caroya.

There, police personnel completed the arrest of the woman, who was taken to the corresponding police station to be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which is conducting the investigation.

The case falls within the remit of offences against physical integrity and resistance to authority committed on public roads in the Mediterranean province.
