A national security force deployed a coordinated operation in the Buenos Aires town of Olavarría, where they raided three properties which, according to an investigation, operated as drug distribution centres.
The inquiry began four months ago, when evidence gathered in the field indicated that certain private residences were operating as drug sale points. From there, specialist personnel conducted discrete surveillance and studied patterns of criminal activity in neighbourhoods in the area.
With the material collected, a local magistrate authorised entry into the three properties. The measure involved the participation of the corresponding prosecutor's office and was executed by officers from the federal agency based in that town.
During the searches, officers found and seized cannabis flowers valued at over three million pesos on the market. Mobile phones, plastic wrappers, rubber bands for packaging doses, a small calibre short pistol and cartridges lacking legal authorisation were also seized.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, two adult men were charged with violations of regulations penalising drug trafficking. One of the detainees faced an additional charge of unlawfully carrying the seized firearm.
