Officers from the Chubut provincial force together with federal agents executed an operation that dismantled a gang engaged in the distribution of illegal substances in a densely populated area of the oil city. The action included five residential raids, the apprehension of one individual, and the seizure of material linked to the crime.
According to information published by the Government of Chubut, in two of the premises searched, a compressed block of cocaine weighing 600 grammes was found, as well as 56 grammes already divided into packets prepared for distribution. Three electronic weighing instruments were also seized, a short-barrel weapon of .22 calibre with rounds, and two two-wheeled vehicles that were reported as stolen.
The investigation that enabled the operation to be launched originated from an anonymous tip to the authorities. This information, combined with other evidence gathered, allowed the local Drugs and Special Laws Division to plan the raids to dismantle the distribution centre.
Access to the residences was supported by the GEOP and the Infantry Guard, whilst the Motor Vehicle Theft Division and the canine units of the federal force also participated in the operation.
The authorities stressed that this type of joint action between local and national jurisdictions is fundamental to combating retail drug trafficking in urban areas, reducing the circulation of weapons, and deepening investigations with the support of the Judiciary and the Public Ministry.
