An extensive investigation that spanned several years culminated in the dismantling of three criminal structures dedicated to the illicit sale of substances in San Juan province. The operation, carried out by Argentine Federal Police officers under the remit of the Ministry of Security, resulted in a total of 33 people being brought before the courts.
The proceedings, which included 37 raids in different localities, made it possible to establish that the groups sourced their merchandise from Mendoza and the federal capital. To transport the narcotics, they used human couriers who travelled as passengers on intercity transport services. Once in San Juan territory, the drugs were broken down into smaller quantities and offered to the public in small amounts.
Among those detained are 23 men and 10 women. The authorities also succeeded in seizing 16 kilograms of various types of narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine and stimulants. The confiscated haul was completed with a sum exceeding 90,000 Argentine pesos, three vehicles, communication devices, weighing instruments and digital devices.
