Bariloche Police recover luxury pickup truck stolen in Buenos Aires during routine check
A preventive patrol in the 2 de Abril neighbourhood of Bariloche, in Río Negro province, led to the recovery of a Toyota Hilux SW4 pickup truck that had been reported as stolen in the city of Buenos Aires in August 2025.
Prevention officers located the vehicle during a routine sweep of the area. When verifying the vehicle's details, they noticed that the number plate did not match the one corresponding to that vehicle model. Subsequently, they confirmed that the chassis number also did not match the documentation presented by the driver.
Faced with these discrepancies, the uniformed officers consulted police databases and confirmed that the pickup truck had an active seizure order for theft. They immediately notified the duty prosecutor, who ordered the driver's apprehension in order to verify his background, as well as the formal seizure of the vehicle.
According to information provided by the Río Negro Government, a preliminary investigative file was opened for the crime of harbouring stolen goods. The Ministry of Security and Justice of the province highlighted the operation as an example of the effectiveness of routine vehicle checks.
