San Juan Police permanently severed ties with officer Alex Simón Aciar following an administrative process that determined serious failures in his conduct, according to diariohuarpe.com. The measure was driven by the Under-Secretariat for Inspection and Control of Public Security Management, which considered that his behaviour harmed institutional prestige.
Aciar was serving a judicial sentence of one year's suspended imprisonment for offences committed against his former partner, who also belongs to the provincial force. The charges included aggravated minor injuries by reason of their relationship, simple threats, and attempted aggravated robbery.
The file also incorporated reports from the Police Health Department that established that the officer lacked the psychological fitness necessary to carry out security duties. For that reason, he had previously been recommended to perform exclusively administrative functions and to have his regulation firearm removed.
The uniformed officer had been under precautionary suspension since November 2024 and had a record of prior disciplinary matters, including reprimands and other suspensions.
His legal troubles extended to the public sphere as well. In 2021, while working at Police Station 28, he was involved in a road accident at the intersection of Circunvalación Avenue and Salta Street. In that incident, Aciar struck Domingo Villafañe, a 72-year-old retired sub-officer cycling on a bicycle, with his vehicle. The victim died days later from the injuries, and Aciar was charged with culpable homicide.
The accumulation of criminal charges and the damage to the dignity of the office led the legal advisers and the State Secretariat for Security to issue the dismissal sanction. With this ruling, Aciar was permanently separated from the police institution.
