Chilean fugitive arrested in Bariloche transferred to Buenos Aires for aggravated robbery

A Chilean citizen arrested in early July in San Carlos de Bariloche was transferred on Tuesday to Buenos Aires City, where he was made available to the court that had requested him in connection with an aggravated robbery case. According to neuquenpost.com, the transfer operation was carried out by National Gendarmerie, after it was confirmed that an active arrest warrant issued in 2024 was outstanding against the man.
The procedure originated on 10 July, when officers from the Río Negro Police detected in Bariloche a vehicle with a judicial seizure order for robbery, requested by the Justice system in Cipolletti. With support from the RN Emergencies 911 system, agents verified the vehicle's status and identified its two occupants.
During the inspection, neither of the men could produce documentation for the vehicle and their accounts regarding the vehicle's origin and their place of accommodation proved contradictory. The on-duty prosecution then ordered the seizure of the automobile and the detention of both men under the charge of obstruction of justice.
Upon establishing that one of the detainees was a Chilean national, the National Immigration Authority intervened, confirming the existence of an arrest warrant issued by a national court in Buenos Aires City as part of an investigation into robbery.
With that confirmation, the Justice system ruled that the accused would remain at the disposal of the requesting court until their transfer could be coordinated. On Tuesday morning, a National Gendarmerie unit carried out the operation and received the detainee along with all required documentation to continue the proceedings: medical certificate, fingerprint cards, identification photographs, and the corresponding judicial file.
The Río Negro Government highlighted that coordination between the provincial Police, the National Immigration Authority, and the National Gendarmerie made it possible to recover the vehicle subject to seizure and enforce an arrest warrant that had been active for nearly two years.
