Security forces in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut province, carried out the apprehension of an individual of Dominican origin in recent hours. The operation, named "Operation The Extradited", was part of a federal case for violation of Argentine legislation on illicit substances.
The detainee had been removed from the country in July of last year by order of the National Migration Authority. At that time, he had already been sentenced for associating with others to traffic in drugs, and was also facing legal proceedings for having wounded someone using a firearm.
Despite the restriction placed upon him, the man managed to cross the border again and resettle in the area. Investigators, according to information reported by media outlet ADN Sur, observed that the suspect circulated through the streets with his face covered or during the early morning hours, apparently in an attempt to evade police control.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the federal judges authorised three house searches that took place on Thursday in the neighbourhoods of Ceferino, Standard Norte and José Fuchs. A second person was also arrested during the raid.
