Chilean girl rescued in Argentina after being taken from Paraguay
Agents from the security force in Argentina's Chaco province discovered a Chilean national at the terrestrial transport station in Resistencia. The minor was the subject of an urgent search launched after her parent removed her from Paraguay without judicial approval.
The specialised unit handling abduction cases from the Paraguayan police force sent requests for assistance to their Argentine counterparts. Because of this, uniformed officers from Formosa were able to track the man, although initially they failed to apprehend him because he had presumably moved to a different jurisdiction.
Under instructions from the Ministry of Security, Chaco agents launched a search operation that bore fruit near midday. They found the child in the company of her parent, who was immediately placed under arrest.
Both father and daughter are now in the custody of the authorities while awaiting further orders on the steps to follow.
