On 14 April, police officers found the body of an agricultural worker with the surname Ollo in the Salvador neighbourhood, within the San Juan locality of María del Carril. The man had died from a stab wound and also bore signs of having been struck by blows.

According to reporting by Tiempo de San Juan, the victim was last seen on the night of Saturday 13 at a Carpintería bar, where he was sharing drinks and playing dice—a practice known as "cacho"—alongside several co-workers.

During the initial stages of the investigation, two of those same labourers pointed to an individual named Manrique, identifying him as the possible attacker. However, investigators subsequently established that this person did not participate in the incident.

To date, the authorities have not disclosed who committed the crime, nor have they specified what triggered the fatal attack.
