A juvenile court in Vienna has convicted a girl who was 14 years old at the time of the offence of manslaughter and sentenced her to eight years in prison. The crime took place on the Ottakring cemetery in Vienna's 16th district.
According to the prosecution, the young woman had initially lured another teenager to a meeting. There she allegedly attacked the victim with a knife and killed her through numerous stab wounds. The exact number of stabs exceeded 80.
The convicted person was a minor at the time of the offence, which is why proceedings took place before a juvenile court. At sentencing, a prison term of eight years was imposed.
The trial attracted nationwide attention because both the perpetrator and victim were of juvenile age at the time of the offence. The motives behind the crime remained the subject of investigation and court proceedings.
The verdict is not yet final. The defence may still lodge an appeal.
