A Vienna youth court has convicted a 14-year-old schoolgirl of the murder of a same-age acquaintance and sentenced her to eight years imprisonment. The offence took place in June 2024 at a cemetery in the 21st Vienna municipal district of Floridsdorf.

The court established that the accused attacked her 13-year-old classmate with a knife, inflicting 82 stab wounds upon her. The injuries resulted in the victim's death. The 14-year-old was charged and convicted in a youth court proceeding.

In the course of the proceedings, a psychiatric assessment was carried out. The assessor identified a narcissistic personality disorder in the accused. Additionally, diminished criminal responsibility was established.

The defence of the 14-year-old filed an appeal against the judgment. The accused is currently in custodial detention.
