In a shared flat in the Linz-Land district, a bloody confrontation took place in the early hours of Saturday morning at approximately 1:15 a.m. between a 23-year-old man and his 46-year-old mother. Both individuals had consumed alcohol beforehand.
According to police, a verbal argument initially escalated. The young man then grabbed a stabbing implement and inflicted injuries to his mother's chest area. The woman was taken to a hospital in the state capital, where she received outpatient treatment.
Officers encountered the suspect just outside the flat and took him into custody without resistance. The 23-year-old made a comprehensive confession. On the direction of the public prosecution office in Steyr, he was remanded to Garsten prison. The weapon was seized.
