During a focused operation on 11 October at Floridsdorf railway station, Vienna's riot response unit seized a total of 254 illegal pyrotechnic items, according to oe24.at. The operation took place shortly before Halloween and the New Year period, when police traditionally intensify enforcement against illegal pyrotechnics.
The officers' main focus was trains coming from neighbouring Czechia. A total of eight trains were checked.
Three teenagers aged twelve to sixteen were found in possession of numerous pyrotechnic items. The officers confiscated the items, including fireworks of categories F2, F4 and P1 as well as products containing banned flash-bang material.
In a waste bin in one of the controlled trains, police officers discovered further pyrotechnic articles. The owner of these could not be determined.
Administrative charges were filed against the persons involved.
