53-year-old in Klagenfurt held in custody: violence against partner and resistance to police

In the Carinthian state capital, police arrested a 53-year-old man who first attacked his partner and later offered vigorous resistance to his arrest.

The incident occurred in Klagenfurt. The suspect allegedly struck the woman on the head with a beer mug, twisted her arm causing injuries, and caused bruising. When a patrol car subsequently drove to their shared accommodation to impose a protection order and entry ban, the man reacted with extreme aggression.

He insulted the arriving officers and refused to comply with their instructions. As his behaviour did not improve even after repeated warnings, an arrest was ordered. The 53-year-old offered strong resistance, requiring police officers to use pepper spray to bring him under control.

He was then transferred to Klagenfurt police detention centre.
