Brawl in Friesach: dispute over television channel ends with arrest and injuries

What began as neighbourly assistance ended yesterday evening with serious bodily harm and a police arrest. According to meinbezirk.at, a heated altercation between two men occurred in Friesach at approximately 21:43.

A 60-year-old woman had asked her neighbour, a 54-year-old man, to help her set her television programme. He went to the woman's flat along with a 61-year-old acquaintance who had previously been in his own flat. When the two men were unable to tune in the desired channel, a dispute broke out between them.

"The 61-year-old is suspected of inflicting a serious injury on the 54-year-old by punching him in the face," police stated. The 54-year-old was taken to Friesach Hospital after emergency medical treatment.

The suspected perpetrator also showed himself to be extremely aggressive towards the arriving officers. During the enforcement of his arrest, he injured a police officer. A breathalyser test showed that the 61-year-old had severe alcohol intoxication. He was provisionally arrested.
