On Friday afternoon, a dispute escalated at the west entrance of Innsbruck's Tivoli swimming pool. Security staff had initially expelled a 22-year-old Somali man and a 23-year-old Cameroonian from the pool because they had violated house rules.

The Somali man subsequently became aggressive and struck a 31-year-old security guard in the face with his head. A previously uninvolved 22-year-old Afghan man then entered the conflict, threatening staff with a folding knife.

Only several police patrols that were called to the scene brought the situation under control. Both security staff members, the Somali man and the Afghan man sustained minor injuries. Police arrested the Afghan man and seized his knife.
