In southern Carinthia, a 44-year-old man attempted to evade a traffic control on Sunday afternoon. Officers eventually apprehended him on foot after he had parked his vehicle in a wooded area.

At around 4pm, the driver was travelling north on the Ettendorf state road L143. During this, he executed a risky overtaking manoeuvre at a location where vehicles were approaching from the opposite direction. He then turned onto a side road and continued at excessive speed.

A patrol noticed the traffic violations and pursued the vehicle. Despite flashing lights, sirens and loud instructions via loudspeaker, the driver did not stop. He managed to escape initially.

Shortly afterwards, another police patrol spotted the man on foot. During his arrest, he refused to take a breath alcohol test. Officers confiscated his driving licence both physically and electronically.

Officers discovered the abandoned car nearby, hidden amongst the trees. The 44-year-old must now answer for multiple offences.
