A horrific fatal incident has occurred in Carinthia. A 39-year-old man is suspected of having killed the new partner of his former girlfriend with an axe. The act took place in an apartment in Völkermarkt.
According to investigations, the conflict between the two men escalated following a telephone call. The suspected perpetrator is said to have first quarrelled with the victim over the telephone. He then drove a truck to the apartment of the 35-year-old victim.
On arrival, the suspect is said to have seized an axe and struck his rival multiple times. The 35-year-old succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene.
Particularly shocking: at the time of the act, two children were in the apartment. The young people had to witness the violent act.
Following the bloodshed, the 39-year-old is said to have fled in the truck. However, police were able to quickly identify and arrest him. The man was taken into custody at Klagenfurt prison.
The public prosecutor's office is investigating on suspicion of murder. An expert is now to examine the suspect's criminal responsibility.
