Two suspected thieves were arrested by police at the Parndorf Outlet Centre in the Burgenland municipality of Parndorf on Wednesday. The arrest followed a chase initiated by an employee of the shopping centre.
The employee observed the two suspects committing a theft and subsequently followed them. He was able to inform officers of the incident and accompanied the perpetrators' escape. Police intervened and stopped the suspects' vehicle.
A subsequent search of the car uncovered extensive stolen goods. The vehicle contained eight dismantled brand-name bicycles and an electric bicycle. Officers also secured shoes that had previously been stolen and several new items of clothing.
The exact circumstances of the crimes and the origin of the stolen goods are currently being clarified by the investigation authorities. Police believe the two arrested individuals may be responsible for further thefts in the region.
