Former Mayor Luger to Face Court on Breach of Trust Charges
On Friday, former SPÖ politician Klaus Luger must answer to a judge. He faces charges of breach of trust in connection with the Brucknerhaus affair. This was reported by Der Standard.
Luger held the office of Linz mayor until summer 2024. In his capacity as head of the LIVA supervisory board, he instructed lawyers to prepare a legal opinion. The occasion was the revelation that Dietmar Kerschbaum – designated managing director of the events company and future director of the Brucknerhaus – had been aware of the hearing questions before the official questioning.
The former city mayor was himself responsible for this information leaking to Kerschbaum. Nevertheless, he had an opinion prepared without disclosing his own role.
Originally, Luger had accepted a diversion offer from the provincial court and paid a fine.
