A 60-year-old woman is alleged to have attacked her 79-year-old husband with scissors while he slept in Vienna's Simmering district and threatened to kill him.

A 79-year-old man appeared at a police station in Simmering on Wednesday at around 10.15 a.m. with cut wounds on both arms. He was without upper-body clothing and reported that his 60-year-old wife had attacked him with scissors whilst he was sleeping. The woman is also alleged to have threatened to kill him.
Officers from Vienna's professional fire service provided emergency medical treatment to the injured man. Shortly afterwards, police found the suspected perpetrator in the couple's shared flat. Police detected an alcohol level of approximately two parts per thousand on the woman.
The 60-year-old was provisionally arrested. A ban on entering and approaching the victim was issued against her. During questioning, she refused to make any statement and remains in police custody.
