The background to the operation was an alleged robbery attempt, during which a firearm was reportedly involved according to information provided to police. Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig confirmed to the APA that "all available emergency personnel" were subsequently deployed.
At the alleged crime scene, officers seized a blank-firing pistol. According to Grundnig, whether this was used as the weapon in the alleged offence remains the subject of investigations. Two people were taken to hospital as a precaution to rule out injuries. The operation was concluded after a short time.
