The German-born woman had officially changed her gender a decade ago and published about it. She was well-connected in Vienna and had mentored a boxing world champion in the past.
According to oe24.at, investigators are focusing on a man from the North Caucasus believed to be around 25 years old. The suspect is said to be a boxer and mixed martial arts fighter who lived with the deceased. Witnesses report seeing him hastily leaving the building with a suitcase – one day before the body was discovered.
In one of her final video posts on a social media platform, the 70-year-old had discussed problems with her partner but at the same time expressed optimism.
After acquaintances had heard nothing from her for several days, they visited the apartment and found the lifeless body. An emergency doctor who was called could only certify her death. An autopsy is to clarify the date of death; initial investigation results indicate that the woman had been dead for several days already.
Criminal investigators are currently examining the circles around the deceased and attempting to locate the fleeing suspect.
