Police arrest repeat offender in Bad Ischl
During the night into Monday, a 42-year-old man from Romania was taken into custody in Bad Ischl. Officers on patrol noticed the suspect as he ran away from their vehicle and hid in the bushes. Further investigation revealed that they had apprehended a previously convicted burglar.
The arrested man admitted to 51 burglaries and thefts that he said he had committed since the beginning of May in the region around Bad Goisern and Bad Ischl. He mainly stole electric bicycles and tools, partly from flats, partly from motor vehicles. This is reported by ooe.ORF.at.
A raid on a rented flat where his wife and a small child lived brought some of the stolen goods to light. According to his own account, he had already disposed of the remaining items. He is currently being held in custody pending investigation.
