During traffic checks in the Salzburg region, officers pulled over several drivers at the weekend. A 68-year-old was speeding at 155 kilometres per hour instead of the permitted 100 km/h, whilst an 18-year-old drove under the influence of THC – despite already having had his licence revoked.

Numerous road users came into the sights of police in the state of Salzburg at the weekend. Officers conducted targeted checks on roads and motorways, uncovering several serious violations.
On Fuschler Straße in Thalgau, officers monitored vehicle traffic on Saturday. Six drivers exceeded the speed limit. One of them, a 68-year-old man, drove at 155 km/h – when the maximum permitted speed was 100 km/h. The officers confiscated his driving licence on the spot.
On the A10 Tauern motorway in Golling, a 19-year-old man from Bulgaria attracted attention through reckless manoeuvres. The holder of a provisional licence overtook twice on the right side and failed to maintain adequate distances. The police removed him from traffic. In the same location, officers also detected an intoxicated driver, who likewise had to hand over his licence immediately.
In Eugendorf, police stopped an 18-year-old local whose driving appeared suspicious. A breath alcohol test came back negative, but a saliva test for drugs tested positive for cannabis. The young man appeared severely impaired and refused a medical examination. Since his driving licence had already been revoked previously, police were unable to confiscate it – he now faces multiple charges.
During the night into Sunday, the state traffic department conducted additional checks in the city of Salzburg and surrounding area. Officers issued a total of ten charges. In addition to speeding violations, intentional noise from revving engines and drifting vehicles were also penalised.
