A 30-year-old man from the Hallein district is currently on trial at the Salzburg Regional Criminal Court on suspicion of child sexual abuse. He is accused of supplying minors with narcotics and in return demanding sexual acts.
The defendant is alleged to have contacted a total of seven girls aged twelve to seventeen between July 2022 and June 2023 and provided them with cannabis and amphetamine, among other drugs. In exchange, he allegedly demanded sexual services. The youngest victim was just twelve years old at the time of the alleged offence.
The Salzburg public prosecutor has accused the man of deliberately approaching the girls via social media and systematically creating a dependency on him. After the minors had consumed the narcotics, he is said to have pressured them and demanded sexual acts.
Several victims testified as witnesses during the course of the trial. Their statements described a pattern of repeated contact, provision of drugs and subsequent sexual exploitation. The defence of the accused largely disputes the accusations and speaks of a voluntary agreement between those involved.
The trial is expected to take several more court days. The court must clarify, among other things, whether the minors were actually in a position to make a free decision or whether they were placed in a coercive situation through the provision of drugs.
