In a flat in Enns, Linz-Land district, an argument between a young man and his mother escalated into an act of violence in the night leading into Sunday. The 23-year-old, who does not possess Austrian citizenship but hails from Croatia, attacked the 46-year-old woman with a sharp object.

The two had been drinking together beforehand. At around 1:15 am, they became embroiled in a fierce dispute. The son then grabbed a knife and inflicted injuries on his mother in the upper body area. Fortunately, the wounds were not deep.

Paramedics took the woman to a nearby hospital, where she received medical care and was subsequently discharged. Her life was never in danger at any point.

Officers arrested the suspect outside the flat later that same evening. He offered no resistance and confessed to the act. The state prosecutor ordered his remand in custody at Garsten prison. Investigators also secured the kitchen knife used in the incident.
