On Thursday afternoon, a violent incident occurred in the Hietzing district between two siblings. A 22-year-old is said to have threatened his sister with an airsoft weapon and slightly injured the woman's partner.
The confrontation triggered a major police operation. Officers secured the multi-storey building from the outside. However, the suspected perpetrator had already disappeared before police arrived.
Investigators reached the young man by telephone. He subsequently appeared voluntarily at a police station. There, he refused to comment on the allegations.
A contact and restraining order were issued against him. He was also issued a provisional ban on possessing weapons.
During a raid on his flat, officers seized various firearms, ammunition and further weapons. They also found modified fireworks, which were seized following consultation with explosives experts.
The 22-year-old was charged with coercion, grievous bodily harm and breaches of weapons and pyrotechnic legislation.
