Outside the restaurant "Rosi's Sonnbergstuben" in Kitzbühel, a taxi struck a 29-year-old man in February 2025 and seriously injured him. The native Viennese, who now lives in Tyrol, had been celebrating outside the bar, known as a celebrity hotspot, when the incident occurred.

As Krone.at reports, a Mercedes bus first ran over the man's foot as he lay on the ground and then over his ear. He sustained six broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a partially severed ear. Two friends of the victim witnessed the accident.

The professional driver initially vehemently denied the incident and even claimed he had not touched the man. Only after three hearings and several expert assessments did the taxi driver accept responsibility. Kitzbühel District Court sentenced him to a fine of 480 euros and ordered him to pay court costs of 3,100 euros.

The victim expressed outrage at the lenient sentence. His father plans to address the lack of confidence in the justice system in a letter to the court. Additionally, civil damages claims may follow against the driver.
