Fatal violence at Upper Austrian school: 28-year-old teacher killed
An educational institution in Taufkirchen an der Pram, Schärding district, became the scene of a gruesome crime on Friday in the early afternoon. A 28-year-old teacher fell victim to a fatal attack there.
Investigators believe that a 29-year-old male employee of the same school is responsible for the act. He allegedly attacked the woman with a knife and with a properly registered firearm, as a result of which she lost her life.
After committing the violent act, the suspect fled the school grounds. Shortly afterwards, officers discovered his lifeless body in his car in the area of the municipality of Freinberg. Preliminary findings point to suicide by the man.
The objects used in the act were secured by the security authorities. The responsible prosecution office in Ried im Innkreis ordered the autopsy of both deceased persons. The current investigation considers a private dispute in the interpersonal relationship between the two employees to be the trigger for the act of violence.
Further investigations by law enforcement, including the securing of evidence and interviews with possible eyewitnesses, are ongoing.
