High-speed pursuit on A23: 16-year-old Serb flees from police at almost 140 km/h
An allegedly underage driver triggered a dangerous high-speed pursuit on Vienna's A23. Three of four occupants were arrested.

Google News AT — Crime (de) reports on a dangerous high-speed pursuit on Vienna's South-East Ring Road, which began on 28 August at around 19.20 hours.
A motorcycle police officer from the State Traffic Department Vienna noticed a car on the A23 heading south, whose driver appeared to be underage. When the officer made a signal to stop, the driver ignored it and fled at high speed.
According to police information, the car driver is said to have reached nearly 140 km/h. By driving extremely close to other vehicles and executing abrupt braking manoeuvres, he caused several dangerous situations for other road users. In the area of the Altmannsdorfer Straße exit, the vehicle finally stopped due to a traffic jam. All four occupants then fled on foot from the motorway exit.
During the foot pursuit, the motorcycle police officer fired several warning shots. One of the passengers was then unable to escape and was detained on the spot. With the support of the police helicopter and additional emergency personnel, two further passengers were arrested.
The alleged driver, a 16-year-old Serbian national, initially escaped. However, he was subsequently tracked down. The police believe that he refused to stop at the checkpoint because he does not have a valid driving licence. Criminal charges as well as numerous administrative offences were filed against him and the other persons involved.
