Nainggolan before correctional court for cocaine trafficking via Antwerp port

The prosecution is seeking two years' imprisonment against footballer Radja Nainggolan, who is being prosecuted for participation in a criminal organisation, according to RTBF Info. The charges relate to an alleged importation of cocaine from South America to Europe via Antwerp port.

At the end of January 2025, the Federal Judicial Police (PJF) in Brussels conducted 30 raids, mainly in Antwerp province and Brussels as well as its surrounding areas, leading to the arrest of 18 people. Nainggolan was among 19 individuals indicted in this investigation.

The former Belgian international was never suspected of direct involvement in drug trafficking. His name appeared in the file because of payments totalling more than 100,000 euros received over a period of several months from Nasr-Eddine Sekkaki, brother of criminal Ashraf Sekkaki.

Nainggolan had initially claimed he had lent this money to Sekkaki "out of friendship". He subsequently changed this version, explaining that he had accepted these funds because his bank accounts had been frozen following a divorce.

In March 2026, the Brussels investigating chamber decided to dismiss the case against three of the defendants and referred the other sixteen to the correctional court, including Nainggolan.
