Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has filed a charge of premeditated murder against a man after the victim died as a result of a severe assault in the Sofia district of Vrăbnica, according to Novinite.com.
The attack was carried out around 2:30 a.m. on 21 October. The suspect, known by the initials G.D., repeatedly struck M.S. on the head and body. The victim sustained traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures and extensive wounds, and subsequently died from the injuries.
Officers from the Ninth District Police Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Sofia detained the suspect. The case is being investigated jointly by the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecutor's Office — investigators from the Ninth District Directorate of Sofia Metropolitan Interior Directorate (SDVR) are working under the direct supervision of Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, according to Nova TV.
On 22 October, the man was formally charged with premeditated murder committed in an especially torturous and cruel manner. By order of the supervising prosecutor, he was remanded in custody for a period of up to 72 hours.
On Saturday, 24 October, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office was to request from Sofia City Court the imposition of the most severe preventive measure — remand in custody.
